Computer Virus On My Computer- Never!

Just what exactly is a computer virus? It is a program that sits on your computer and the programmer who wrote the code for the virs doesn’t mean it to help you! The virus can be insignificant, a minor annoyance or very serious- attempting to steal your data, crash your computer or extort money by trying to send you to their own website to get a cure for a problem that they put on your computer in the first place

Even the more annoying, relatively minor viruses (or malware) as they are sometimes called, can cause massive problems for you. Viruses can target system programs and processes that may end up in erratic behaviour on your computer, make it crash or cause other (legitimate) programs to fail, corrupt your data, etc.

This results in slowing down of the computer, but it is also very difficult to find and stop the problem- help is at hand. Make sure you run a scan through the control panel interface of your Anti-virus software. Most anti-virus programs will have a scan utility- run it and follow the instructions if the scan reveals that you have a virus on your PC.

Trojans, key loggers, more serious malware and even computer worms can cause you massive problems, lose money, and even fund terrorism, criminality and worse. Basically, they program is written with the very serious intent of harm or extortion. To protect yourself against these very real threats, you need to have an excellent anti-virus program running on your computer at all times. We recommend AVG anti-virus. Their software is not only free- in my opinion, it out performs the most common commercial programs

We receive telephone calls every week from people who don’t have anti-virus software and find their computer behaving erratically. Running your computer without anti-virus software is like making love without contraception. Don’t do it if you aren’t prepared for the outcome, however unintentional. Please make sure you get AVG free downloaded and then run a virus scan.

One thing that may surprise you is that the free version of AVG offers every bit as good (if not better) protection as some of the more common anti-virus software programs. Very often new computers come bundled with a three month trial of well known anti-virus software. Our advice- remove the program that came with your computer and download AVG free.
