How to Become A Rainmaker

Rain- That’s been the forecast here in New York for what feels like an eternity or at least the last bunch of months or so anyway! Let me ask you, at what point did Seattle and the North East Coast make a switch and I was left in the dark?

As rain was the primary point of discussion for the majority of us Northeasterners the beginning of the Summer, it brings to mind a seminar on Branding I learned from Dr. Benjamin Mack which co-incidentally he entitled How to Be a Rainmaker.

I will attempt to uncover some of the most important topics provided at this very informative presentation over the next few articles so stay tuned or check out my blog for updates. The lecture included topics such as: 1) Making lightning Strike, 2) How to keep the lightning striking and 3) Bottling your lightning.

In case your not aware of who Bejamin Mack is, he is one of the foremost powers that be on Branding currently in the United States. He is considered legendary in certain Ad agency circles for this work. Over the years Ben has held tenure some of the most recognized advertizing agencies aorund and was a Vice President for Brand strategy for a major corporation.

In a nut shell what that means is he was in charge of a budget of ” billion dollars (now thats massive amounts money)! To me that signals someone who is an authority on Branding, do we see eye to eye? In addition to being a professional magician, Ben Mack has performed magic for many companies over the years, and at age 19 was the receiver of the esteemed (if your into magic) Award of Merit given by the Magic Castle.

For those alien to the concept of what a rainmaker is, a rainmaker is an individual medicine man not withstanding who instead of insuring a good harvest for his tribe brings increased revenue to his corporation by the use of his or her political clout, ability to attract customer therfore making the people he works for happy.

As an internet Marketer your chief duty is to “up sell” individuals on their perception of reality. In Ben Macks book “Think Two Products Ahead” he speaks of how effective branding only occurs when companies think two products ahead rather then thinking in just the here and now and for them to assemble thriving affiliations with their customers by means of their Brand The section in the book where Ben talks about creating your Legend Platform is worth its weight in gold!

The “Brand” (called YOU) is constructed by using legends or tales that are told over and over and gain strenght with time. These stories should be permitted to say the opposite of what the others say and will increase as the stories get older. So, if you had to make a choice of the type of story you use to make your business sparkle like a diamond (you are reading articles like this to help you right?) why not let them be legends. A Legendary business is a profitable one!
