Internet Marketing Articles
The unrivalled growth in the world wide web has sent the e-commerce industry spiralling into what is now a multi-billion dollar industry. With it, the science of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become more and more significant to online marketeers and companies alike.
Most online search sessions on internet begin at Google, Yahoo or Bing, with the Google holding the majority share in online search activity. A number 1 position in Google, therefore, can equate to millions of dollars of potential revenue for profitable search keywords.
The difference between a number 1 position on the first page of Google results and a 5th position is vast, and even more so between the first and second page – note, that hardly any of us using Google progress to the third page of results.
Getting listed first in Google, and other search engines, is called Search Engine Optimization (or SEO for short). SEO concerns the way in which web pages (not sites – this distinction is important) are ranked in the popular search engines for organic (not paid) for searches. When we search in Google, we enter keywords or phrases into the search box and get results related to our search.
Your web page will be considered more important if it has links to it from other websites, especially if those sites have related content and the pages that the links are on contains content related to yours. This is especially true if the anchor text is also related to your subject matter.
Google is basically an online popularity contest, the more inbound links your page has from other web-pages, especially pages on other related websites, the more votes it has in effect and the more important it is deemed to be. Furthermore, if those links are formed by anchor text which matches or contains words related to your page content then those votes become even more important.
But how do you get lots of related web-pages to link to you? Well a very popular way in which you can do this is with article marketing. Basically, there is now a myriad of online article directories where you can submit an article on on any subject. The advantages of posting to some of the popular article directories are quite significant – they are already a trusted (usually) site, they will have significant site page rank, a little bit of which they will share with your article page, the content you are responsible for so you can make sure its related content, and of course you can put links in your article that point back to your site with anchor text that is relevant to the keyword you are targeting.
When submitting articles to directories, or anywhere else for that matter, the important thing to remember is that Google does not like duplicate content. So each article needs to be ‘unique’. What is ‘unique’ in terms of an article, well thats another article. There are now alot of online submission sites and software that can submit your article for you and help generate unique versions for you.
